How to Make a Pitch Video

A pitch video is the one-minute version of the conversation you want. It is not a trailer for a longer mystery. The decision, the proof, and the next step have to be in the film.

A one-minute project film

Who is in the room

Someone who will watch on a phone before they take a meeting: an investor, a customer, a partner, a committee. They will not open a twelve-page deck to decide whether you are worth a slot.

About a minute. Three chapters: the painful situation, the solution, the advantages and the ask. If a sentence does not fit one of those chapters, cut it.

When [who] [the costly situation], [name] [the result], and the next step is [the dated ask].

What to say, in order

  1. The situation

A person, a task, a cost. Open in the scene. Do not open on a logo.

  2. The solution

One sentence for what you do, then two or three steps the user takes. Stop before the architecture.

  3. Proof and the next step

One fact you can stand behind, then the dated ask. A film that ends on a vibe does not get a reply.

  4. What not to shoot

Do not invent a result the photos do not show. Do not read the spec sheet. Do not spend the minute on your biography.

  5. How Axiom Lab makes it

Upload a plan, a deck, a PDF or photos. You see the production plan first. A film is delivered only after it passes checks.

Fill the brackets

If a bracket has a missing fact, cut the sentence. Do not invent a number to make the line sound finished.

  1. Situation

[Who] still [the workaround]. It costs them [number] every [week or month].

  2. Solution

[Name] lets them [step], then [step], and they get [result].

  3. Proof

We know because [the fact you can stand behind].

  4. Ask

The next step is [the action] by [date].

  5. Close

That is the film. If a line has no fact, it does not belong.

What to have ready

The brief

Project name, who it is for, the painful situation, the solution, how it works, the evidence, the next step.

Material

A plan, a deck, a PDF, or photos of the real work. Generated fantasy of a result will not pass.

The ask

One next step with a date. A video without an ask is a mood piece.

The length

Write for a minute. The live conversation can run longer. The film cannot.

The film is the meeting you do not have yet

A partner will watch a minute. They will not read the deck to decide whether you get a slot. Record the three chapters and send that.

Axiom Lab turns that brief into a project video. You review the plan before production. During the beta, a new address needs an invite; write to sales if you do not have one.

Where it goes wrong

A trailer with no decision

If they cannot tell what you want after sixty seconds, the film was atmosphere.

A result you cannot show

Do not narrate an effect that is not in the pictures. Buyers and investors will ask to see it again.

The biography first

They can read a team slide later. The first seconds are the customer’s cost.

Making it for the conference hall

The first watch is on a phone, without sound sometimes. The sentence has to work as text on screen too.

Make it a film

Turn the three chapters into a one-minute project video from the material you already have.

A project video runs about a minute, in three chapters: the painful situation, the solution, and the advantages. You submit the name, the audience, the situation, the solution, how it works, the evidence and the next step, and you can upload a plan, a deck, a PDF or photos. You see the production plan before anything is made. Do not include a result you cannot source. A film is delivered only after it passes checks, and charged only once delivered.

During the beta, a new address needs an invite code. If you do not have one, write to sales and ask for access.

FAQ

How long should a pitch video be?

About a minute. Three chapters: situation, solution, proof and ask. A live meeting can run to ten minutes; the film that gets the meeting cannot.

Do I need to be on camera?

A project video can be built from a deck and photos. A founder card is the on-camera introduction, from an interview.

What do I upload?

A plan, a PPT, a PDF, or pictures of the real work, plus the seven fields: name, audience, situation, solution, how it works, evidence, next step.

Can a video replace the meeting?

It replaces the email that fails to get the meeting. The meeting is still where they pull on the proof.
